Manny Hattan’s Deli at Gateway Closes

This is a shocker. First Katz’s several years ago and now Manny Hattan’s at the Gateway Center has closed leaving Austin with exactly zilch when it comes to NYC styled Jewish delis.

This borders on the brink of unthinkable. Where in the hell am I going to get my Gefilte Fish now and my chicken liver pate? Or my NY style salami sandwich and matzo ball soup? The answer, sadly, is for the time being at least, nowhere!

I know this was a very difficult decision for Aaron Mayers and his family. But the slowdown in traffic and occupancies at Gateway Center was the final straw for this jovial and dedicated restaurant owner. I will miss Manny Hattan’s.
