‘Frank’ Opens on Colorado at Site of Former Starlite
Upscale gave way to casual once again as the local economy continues to play havoc with high-end restaurants. So Starlite, one of my favorites, gave way to a place called “Frank”, where as the name suggests, you can get all sorts of hot dogs. And I mean all sorts of dogs, ranging from Chicago style to the Jalapeno Cheese Dog, and the Slaw Dog with Vienna beef and grilled horseradish cole slaw.
More upscale fare abounds in the form of Artisan Sausages like the Texalina. This is pork and beef sausage, grilled coleslaw, Carolina mustard, BBQ sauce and white cheddar.
And then there’s waffle fries including the infamous Candian waffle poutine! (Fries with brown gravy and cheese curds!)
One thing is certain: Austin is certainly under”dogged” so I welcome this new addition.
