Austin Food + Wine Festival Happening This Weekend
As much as I’ve enjoyed watching the Austin Food + Wine Festival grow from a small hill country event hosted by Ed and Susan Auler of Fall Creek Vineyards, I must admit that the sheer size of the current celebration of local and regional chefs is a bit intimidating.
As much as I’d like to taste the offerings of Jason Dandy, David Bull, Tyson Cole, and Lonesome Dove’s Tim Love or shoot the Breeze with Andrew Zimmern and Tako Matsumoto, the ticket prices (ranging from $250 and up) are eye-popping and far beyond what they were even ten years ago. And for that matter, “Sold Out” seems to be the operative words next to all food event prices.
And good luck to the organizers and the attendees who were able to fork out that kind of coin but I would carefully suggest that the event has grown so large that it may be well, unwieldy. I really do miss the old one that was actually small enough to be held at the Four Seasons.
Oh well … maybe I can wrangle a press pass. 🙂
Just google “Austin Food and Wine Festival” or click here for their website. And if you can get in, enjoy!
