Austin Java Closes Three Stores

We awoke the other morning craving breakfast tacos and banana nut muffins, so I googled Austin Java on 290 which is a few minutes from our house in Highpointe to get their phone number. I was shocked and saddened to see “Permanently Closed” in stark red letters.

We’ve loved Austin Java: the breakfast quesadillas, the muffins, and oh man, the blueberry pancakes. And we were delighted when they reopened after temporarily closing during the pandemic.

Worse still, they’ve closed the downtown store leaving only the Manchaca store open.

It’s funny how we often take our favorite food spots for granted. Do not do that!

Austin Java virtually gushed with that fabled Austin hospitality and weirdness. The food was always spot on and irresistible. We’re damned sad to see these restaurants close. They will be sorely, sorely missed.
