Napa Flats Opens on 620

Posted by on Feb 4, 2016 in Openings

A new restaurant called Napa Flats Wood Fired Kitchen has opened on 620 across from Concordia College. The notion is that California flavors with an Italian flair will light a fire under […]

Thai Kitchen on Bee Caves To Give Way to 2nd Location of Sway

Posted by on Jan 22, 2016 in Openings

Finally, after an uneventful run on Bee Caves for years, Thai Kitchen is making room for the 2nd location of Sway, the fabulous Thai fusion restaurant on S 1st. I love Sway but as always with the quixotic Westlake dining crowd, I’m holding my breath. The opening should occur sometime in mid 2016.

Posted by on Jan 6, 2016 in Closings, Openings

In the wake of the unfortunate closing of the exquisite La V on E 7th, one wonders just how much room there is in Austin for high end dining spots like this. Owner Ralph Eads, in a gracefully written closing release, said that he would rather close than fail to provide the exceptional dining experience […]

Posted by on Dec 26, 2015 in News

I believe that major changes in Austin restaurants and cuisine are ahead for 2016. So here they are unapologetically presented by your faithful scribe. As is our style some of these must be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. But here’s to a great new year in the River City. 1. Sometime soon in […]
