Counter 3. Five. VII at 315 Congress

Bit of an odd name for a restaurant but it reflects their customers’ options for the prix fixe dinner with the number of courses they can select.

The idea here is a sort of informal intimacy where you interact with the chef and staff as your food is being prepared. You sit at a counter that is right at the heart of the action. I must admit the idea is intriguing.

The cuisine is New American fine dining and the menu changes frequently. No waiters equals no tipping, which is unusual.

I’ve heard the portions are on the smallish side but that’s not unusual for multi-course affairs.
Another interesting new downtown restaurant in what used to be, I believe, a dress shop. We wish them luck. 512-291-3227
