European Bistro in Pflugerville to Close August 31st
I have been a huge fan of this Hungarian-themed but wonderfully eclectic restaurant since it opened 11 years ago on E. Main in Pflugerville.
Anna and Piroska are two women who are at home with the nuances of eastern European fare and they have a small but devoted following of area foodies. Had they opened this place somewhere near downtown, who knows what could have happened. But as Cafe Mangu found out, Pflugerville is not known for supporting higher end restaurants.
But both women feel that they’ve given the best they have and it’s time to move on. They’ll be replaced by a tavern called Stein and Stem after they close on August 31st. I for one am heading out for one last feast of my beloved Kaposztas Testa (caramalized cabbage and fresh egg noodles) and inevitably some Chicken Paprikash. This quaint and lovely restaurant will be missed by our family. And I wish Anna and Piroska the very best.
