First Bites at the New Rivals Steakhouse

Had my first meal at the new Rivals Steakhouse several days ago and was impressed, but ironically I didn’t order a steak. This restaurant is about a lot more than steak. The Seafood Gratin featured gulf shrimp and lump crab in a creamy Parmesan sauce with crispy breadcrumbs. It was delicious. Also enjoyed the Sesame Crusted Calamari, cut in longer and thicker strips than one usually sees and served with a roasted green chile marmalade that worked very well.

The soups were quite good as well, The Red Pepper bisque had excellent balance and really impressive flavor. The Barley and Beef was also tasty.

I had a bite of Marge’s 12oz Ribeye (sides included) and it was very nicely marbled. But my Pork Chops, grilled and topped with an apple bacon sauce, were spot on. They were extremely tasty.

Bryan Soltis is a congenial host and the ambiance is engaging. Check it out!
