Fore Mixologist Brandon Tuner Wins Z Tequila ReZipe Rumble

The bartender at Fore in Lakeway is $1,000 better off tonight than he was last night: Brandon Turner beat out seven other finalists to take down the first prize in the 1st Z Tequila ReZipe Rumble at Republic Live.

As I judge, I tasted some very interesting and creative cocktails. But Brandon was the consensus winner and his creative use of several disparate elements including a Coffee Liqueur gave the drink a smoothness that did not preempt the Reposado Z Tequla flavors but rather complemented them, which in my opinion is the entire point.

I usually get to do more wine than spirit tasting but I must say I really enjoyed the evening. And I do confess to a weakness for good Tequila and especially the founder of Z, Pepe Zevada. He is one of the coolest guys in the entire industry.
