How Austin’s Most Popular Sunday Brunches Have Faired During the Pandemic

Posted by on Mar 18, 2021 in Brunch

Austin has always been a Sunday brunch kinda town. While some of our most popular and iconic spots took a hit in the past year, The Four Seasons and Fonda San Miguel are back up and running.

Things might’ve changed a bit relative to what Sunday brunchers had been used to, but the quality of food that contributed to these two restaurants’ ongoing popularity is still definitely there.

The Four Seasons is now doing brunch on Saturday and Sunday, and the famous Sunday buffet has given way to other dining options. But it’s still busy, particularly when the Spring sun is shining on the patio. (And yes, legendary Exec Chef Elmar Prambs is still presiding over things.)

At Fonda San Miguel, cofounder Tom Gilliland has resisted the temptation to go to 100% capacity and is running at 70% in deference to the safety of his customers and staff.

Actually, that’s a plus for patrons of the restaurant because those long buffet lines and zero parking problems have dissipated.

I’m delighted to see these two Austin culinary landmarks back, as I’m sure many of you foodies are.
