Manny Hattan’s Deli Segues into Manny’s Uptown Kitchen

Posted by on May 28, 2010 in Openings

Aaron Mayers, proprietor of Manny Hattan’s Deli at Gateway plaza looked around the country and didn’t like what he was seeing. True Jewish delis were in a general state of decline, especially in former deli hotbeds like New York City.

So the challenge was to preserve the core elements of the deli cuisine while also adding dishes which appealed to more diverse sensibilities. Enter Manny’s Uptown Kitchen. Feature items include Curious Eggrolls, filled with parmesan Reuben and served Dusseldorf mustard. How about Seared Ahi Tuna with mustard glaze, fresh pineapple salsa, and fried rice. Or Dr. Brown’s Glazed Salmon dressed with watercress and green tomatoes: served with Kentucky bourbon cream corn.

I think this illustrates some of the new ideas at Manny’s. But the best way to get the entire picture is to get your self up there as I will do this weekend. This is a bold move by Mayers and I can’t wait to taste some of the new entrees.
