Midtown Live Reopens on Cameron as Sports Bar

Few living in Austin in 2005 can forget the day the Midtown Club on Cameron burned to the ground while police were alleged to be texting, “Burn baby burn,” to each other.

I was filling in for Jeff Ward on KLBJ that day, and the calls on the topic came in non-stop for three hours.

Well, I met with owner Mike Cash today and after 7 years of false starts and stops, he’s finally got it rebuilt and reopened as a sports bar and restaurant. The menu is casual and the food seems to be along the lines of Hoover’s Cooking. The Omelet I tried today was quite good. The restaurant is open 24/7 and has a pleasant interior along with lots of TV’s.
