Mixed Reviews for Restaurant Traffic at SXSW
So the mammoth combination of intellect, music and enormous crowds known as SXSW has once again enveloped Austin in its heady brew.
Some restaurants love this festival and others wish it would take a long walk off a short pier. The interactive part of the festival, which comes first, tends to attract those with expense accounts and AMEX cards. That’s good for the upscale places
But then the music part begins. Food trucks and burger places rock and most of the trendy spots could just as easily go on Spring break.
Then there are the restaurants just outside the downtown loop who don’t benefit from much of any of the madness. They can’t wait for a return to normalcy.
And so it goes for another 10 days at SXSW. Every year is a crap shot for the upscale joints and this year is no exception. Oh, and did I mention the absolute gridlock that is part of the package????
