Modern Thai Restaurant Sway Opens on South 1st

Sway, which is being billed as a modern Thai restaurant, has opened at 1417 South First Street. It’s a collaboration between La Condessa‘s Rene Ortiz and Ched du Cuisine Alexis Chong, and the initial reports from our readers are enthusiastic.

Ortiz and his team appear to have eschewed the more traditional Thai soups and stir-fried noodle dishes for some ramped up dishes like Pad Kwetio, which features wide rice noodles and pork belly and Chinese broccoli. According to the breathless reports at the always reliable Eater Austin, this place has been already been enthusiastically endorsed by none other than Rachel Ray. That’s pretty cool, no?
