New York City Restaurants Reopen at 25% Capacity
An announcement that has delighted restaurant fans in New York City was finally made this week: Indoor dining will resume at 25% capacity. Frankly though, I doubt that all of the restaurants are as delighted.
Masks and temperature checks at the door will be mandatory. Each party must also leave the name of one person in the party in case contact tracing is necessary. Social distancing will also be mandatory with table spacing.
How this impacts restaurant profits remains to be seen. Another spike in COVID-19 could occur. Restaurant customers may not be as compliant with the new rules. There are so many variables to factor into the equation that the unknowns far outweigh the knowns.
So we wish all of our restaurant brethren in NYC the very best and await the news with a cautious sense of optimism.
