Our Favorite Food Pics
Aside from enjoying many, many restaurant meals in the River City, I’ve also had the opportunity to take a bunch of pictures, many of which serve to bring us fond memories of those evenings. So I thought I’d do a bit of curating this Fall and found some enjoyable photos to share with our readers. And I have a feeling that there will be more to come!!
Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q
In the heart of the state of the art! A wonderful deep dive into Rudy’s moist brisket.
Joe Cave: A pizzaiola at work in Dripping Springs Not only is The Pizza Cave’s Joe Cave a renaissance guy, but he advocates for restaurants all across the country and was a tireless supporter of the Restaurant Revitalization Act.
Chinese New Year at Chinatown Mopac
Unless you’ve partaken of the terrific food, the dancing dragons, and the revelry that is Chinese New Year at Chinatown, you have truly missed out! On top of that, it’s always fun to watch owner Ronald Cheng hand out two-dollar bills to kids and would-be kids.
Always a great view from the top of the Oasis
The view on your plate is pretty darned good as well!
The Ocean Scallops at III Forks downtown
Ocean Scallops over corn and shrimp succotash with a lovely beurre blanc sauce at III Forks downtown – one of my all-time favorite dishes in Austin.
The Bison Ribs at the Salt Lick
This was on the menu during a memorable lunch with Scott Roberts. Better than all but a few beef ribs that I’ve tried and actually a bit healthier!
Cacio e Pepe at Emmer & Rye on Rainey
It is a lovely dish to observe and even better to eat and swirl They make this pasta themselves and the Pecorino Romano comes from Italy.
The Chilaquiles at Kerbey Lane Cafe
Our neighbors Harmon and Virginia chowing down on KL’s classic version of this great dish with its wonderful sauce.
The Cheese Enchiladas at El Patio
Always delicious dish! El Patio, like the great old gal she is, continues to age tastefully. I first tried this dish, believe it or not, back in 1976! Who could have foretold that a Lebanese family opening a Tex-Mex joint in Austin would have done so well?
Sunday Brunch at Tillie’s in Dripping Springs
The French toast is spot on as is all their other fare. They have a unique ordering protocol that’s very customer-friendly!
Order of crostini downtown at Red Ash Italia
A little butter, a little garlic and voila!!! This is my favorite appetizer at a place that makes a clam linguine with white sauce to die for!
