Shawn Cirkiel Opens Olive and June at Former Site of El Arbol

Shawn Cirkiel established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the Austin culinary world with Jean Luc’s. Then he topped himself with Parkside. Another innovation was Backspace where some of the finest Neapolitan style pizza in the city can be found.

Shawn’s latest project is Olive and June which opened after Valentine’s Day at the site of the former El Arbol at 3411 Glenview. This is serious Italian cuisine and offers a wide array of what appear to be very interesting dishes. Joining Shawn in the kitchen are Justin Rupp and Steven Cak.

There are a lot of pasta and “piccolo piatti” (small plates) options and I can’t wait to try the Warm Burrata.
