Smashbuger to Open Three Austin Locations

My friend and business writer for the ABJ reveals that Denver chain Smashburger is set to open three Austin locations in the next week and a half.

While I doubt this will send shivers up the spines of local and long-revered burger vendors, Smashburger has lots of fans around the country. First location will be at Southpark Meadows (which has been an iffy spot for chain and local restaurants), the 2nd at Mueller Village at I-35 and E 51s,t and the 3rd will be near Lakeline Mall.

Smashburger’s burger offerings are reminiscent of trendier local spots like Shane Street’s All Star Burger at The Galleria and Chuck Smith’s Hopdoddy at South Congress and Anderson. But Smash has a somewhat deeper menu with many salads and chicken dishes as well. Could be a bit too broad but we’ll see.
