Spec’s Deli at Arbor Walk Worth a Visit
I had normally associated Spec’s with a vast wine selection and their light-hearted TV commercial. But as the MC for a burger blast for charity Monday I watched 20 local DJ’s attempt to throw down the Deli’s 2-lb Colossal Cheeseburger in under 30 minutes.
What was really fun was tasting a sampling of foods from Spec’s deli and sandwich bar after the festivities had concluded. I love a good Cubano and Spec’s Deli nailed this classic Caribbean treat. The meats were moist, the roll was crispy and tender. This may be a 9 or 10 on the sandwich scale: it’s that good.
I also tried the Corn Chowder and again, another very tasty dish. Ditto for the Pork Egg Rolls. They were crisp and loaded with both big and delicate flavors. Then I had a bite of the aforementioned Colossal. I wouldn’t attempt to eat all of it in one sitting, but I must admit it went down easily.
So would I got to Spec’s just to grab a bite at the Deli ?After Monday, the answer would be probably yes. Ok, I’d probably pick up a bottle of Chalk Hill on the way out, but you get my point!
