StarChefs.com Names Austin “Rising Star” Winners

Starchefs.com, an online culinary magazine with a national scope has given several Austin chefs to its “Rising Star” award. The magazine’s editor says, “Austin is an incubator for ideas in the music and tech world, and chefs are following suit.” I’m not sure I totally agree with that sentiment as it seems a bit self serving. But nonetheless, after interviewing a substantial number of Austin chefs, they’ve given the award to some of our local stars.

Here’s the list.

Ned Elliot, Foreign and Domestic
Aaron Franklin, Franklin BBQ
Bryce Gillmore, Barley Swine
Rene Ortiz, La Condessa
Paul Qui, Uchiko
Andrew Wiseheart, Contigo

I can’t say that there’s an undeserving name on the above list. They are all very good at what they do. The pity is that so many other excellent Austin chefs were left off the list. But that’s life in the awards business! Congrats to all!
