Terry Blacks BBQ Opens on Barton Springs
A year ago, Craig Gatewood and his son had opened Peso and Bucks on Barton Springs at the site of the former Vinny’s Italian Cafe. Alas, the enterprise quickly folded, and then the rumor mill took over. First it was to be a food trailer court, then a sign came up touting a Black’s BBQ (from Lockhart) was on the way. Finally, after the usual interminable wait so characteristic to new Austin restaurants, Terry Black’s has opened. Run by twins Mike and Mark Black, this represents the continuation of a long line of Blacks in the BBQ biz. Reviews are mixed thus far, but that’s typical of brand new places. We’ll check them out next week and give you Rob’s take.
