Veranda on Anderson Lane at Northcross Closes

Sam Kattan is an Austin restaurant veteran who knows his way around the industry. I don’t think even he envisioned the problems he would face when he opened the Veranda at the site of the former Hooter’s off Anderson Lane at Northcross Mall.

Firstly and endlessly, it was one torn up parking lot after another, a Walgreens, a Walmart and a dozen other construction problems. Lost in this jungle of oblivion was Veranda, an interesting little restaurant that was about as eclectic as one could find in the River City.

Veranda is now another casualty of the increasingly-challenging Austin restaurant scene and we will miss the irrepressible Sam and his range of Middle-Eastern to Mexican cuisine.
