What’s Up with Creek Road Café ?

Word around Dripping Springs is that the best high-end restaurant south of Ben White, Carl Shroyer’s Creek Road Café, may be giving way to an auto parts shop .I have not yet been able to verify the information. But assuming it’s correct, I hope to hell that Creek Road will remain open and simply change locations. It is an amazing restaurant, replete with the subtle touches one would expect from the downtown chef driven places.

I can honestly say that I have NEVER had a meal there, the soups included, that was below par. I recently had some fried oysters there that were nothing short of amazing! The Panko breadcrumbs were at the apex of layers of flavor. And the entree that night, the flounder with a beurre blanc sauce with leek risotto was simply stunning.

I like cars but i like great food one hell of a lot more. So for all of us perennially food challenged south Austinites, here’s hoping that Creek Road will be with us for years to come.
