Your Best Choices for Celebrating Valentine’s Day 2019
Looking for a great place to take your sweetheart for Valentine’s Day this year? Below are some of the best options in and around Austin.
The Oasis on Lake Travis is a perennial choice for Valentine’s Day. Their sweeping views are almost as impressive as their food!
The Sweetheart Dinner starts off with a choice of Red Pepper Bisque or Crab Cake as an appetizer, followed by a Texas Heirloom Salad with hydroponic greens, julienne onions, spanish manchego cheese, vine-ripened heirloom tomatoes, blood oranges, and flor de Sal with a champagne vinaigrette.
Entrees offer a choice between the following:
• Filet Mignon with potato puree, baby carrots, portobelo mushrooms, peppercorn sauce
• Pan Seared Halibut with cilantro rice, sauteed spinach, scallop ceviche and citrus confit
• Maple Roasted Kabocha Squash roasted with Vermont maple syrup, Swiss chard, julienne onions, toasted pepitas, avocado oil, cumin crema
And finally, the meal is finished off with a very special chef-inspired dessert that you won’t want to miss.
Another great option is III Forks on Lavaca in downtown Austin. For a born-and-bred New Englander like myself, the lobster offerings really strike a chord.
Into 80’s pop culture? Here is an interesting option for you. L’Oca d’Oro is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a menu inspired by the lyrics, hometowns, and general vibe of the 1980s. This is sure to be a really fun – and unique – evening!
Russian House is another terrific choice for Valentine’s Day dining. This year they’ll be offering a three course prix fixe meal, with a VIP option that includes caviar. The menu will feature a choice of appetizers including Blini with red caviar, Classic or Crab Julienne, Mussels in Chernomorskiy Sauce, or Meat delicacy with liver pate and cheese followed by a salad course with choices of Mango salad, Tarragon salad, or Hot Uzbek salad.
The entree course offers choices between Lamb Kazan-Kebob, Shashlyk Combo, Chicken Kiev, Whole Stuffed Trout, Beef Stroganoff, Homemade Pelmeni, Vareniki, Potatoes with wild mushrooms, or Golubtsy.
Finally, the evening wraps up with a dessert course featuring a variety of fruits and desserts and unlimited champagne!
If you haven’t ever taken your sweetheart to Juliet Italian Kitchen on Barton Springs Road, all I can say is that he or she is in for a very special treat. Take a look at their tempting Valentine’s specials on the menu above.
Mouton’s Bistro & Bar is serving a Valentine’s Day menu that will delight steak lovers. Ben Mouton will be dishing up beautifully aged and tender Filet Mignons covered with lump crab meat and served with scalloped potatoes. Not to mention champagne! And all this for just $45 per plate. First comment on this is YUM!
